Peter Buzyński earned a PhD in creative writing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He holds a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MFA in poetry from The New School, and an MA in Polish literature from Columbia University. Burzyński is the translator of Martyna Buliżańska’s This Is My Earth (New American Press, 2019) and the author of the chapbook A Year Alone inside of Woodland Pattern (Adjunct Press, 2022) as well as his debut full-length collection of poetry Infinite Zero (Writ Large Press, 2025).

His poetry, translations, reviews, and essays have appeared in The Georgia Review, jacket2, The Brooklyn Rail, jubilat, RHINO, Storm Cellar, Thrush, Prick of the Spindle, Prelude, Your Impossible Voice, and Forklift Ohio, among others.

He is currently working on translations of the Polish poets Grzegorz Wróblewski and Joanna Guzik.

In Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 Burzyński served as the Postdoctoral Fulbright Scholar in the Slovak Republic teaching graduate courses in literature at The University of Pavol Jozef Šafarik. He has received Translation Fellowships from both the ALTA and Bread Loaf Translation residencies as well as the Arts Administrator Poet in Residency at Write On! Door County and the Emerging Poet Fellowship from Lighthouse Writer’s Workshop.

Burzyński works as English Faculty at The College of the Florida Keys and a Lecturer at Milwaukee Area Technical College. This has followed tenures as Book Center Manager at Woodland Pattern Book Center, Executive Sous Chef at Polonez Restaurant, and Graduate Assistant Coordinator of Creative Writing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
